TacG2

Based on the Royal Ordinance Vehicle Intercommunications System (ROVIS) family of intercoms, Cobham Defence Communications has created the next generation of systems to meet the changing requirements of the 21st century. TacG2 now provides functionality from light/heavy armored vehicles through to IP-based network command posts. The TacG2 system and core units work with the following vehicle/operational roles.

TacG2 Configurations

  • Light Vehicle System – An Intercom system can be created from one single unit from the new TacG2 product portfolio.
  • Heavy Vehicle – The TacG2 system can be extended to accommodate a significant number of crew users with extended levels of functionality.
  • Command Post – The Master Station has an inbuilt gateway capability that allows different vehicle networking with complete point-to-point access between all crew members.

Key TacG2 Features

  • Maintains ROVIS, AN/VIC-3 highway cabling and form factor, which provide:
    • Easy replacement of ROVIS AN/VIC-3
    • Upgrade path for current ROVIS users extending system lifetime support from CDC
  • Increased Functionality
    • More available channels for programmable use for CNR and crew availability
    • More crew/headset connections than the ROVIS AN VIC 3, reducing the number of units needed in a vehicle complete system
  • Expandable
    • Each Crew Station accommodates an Expander Unit (EU) to cater for customization and future customer requirements
    • When the EU connector is unused for an EU, it can be used as a standard data connection to the Crew Station
    • Operational functionality can be added by an EU unit with no changes to the core system units
  • Ease of use
    • The proven intuitive ROVIS AN/VIC-3 MMI is enhanced on TacG2 while increasing user functionality
    • Extensive and intuitive BITE testing for effective maintenance

Tactical Operation enhancements include:

  • TacG2 units are addressable assets allowing greater access and control to individual crew members
  • Improved MMI via optional standard or alphanumeric switches
  • Increased level of functionality at each crew position includes:
    • Remote control of connected CNR’s
    • Individual volume setting control for each CNR / Intercom
    • Point to Point private crew communications
    • Conference call facility
    • PC remote control of the TacG2 using the application programming interface
