Manufacturing
Following is a basic overview of the Cobham Defense Electronic Systems design and development cycle demonstrating our in-house capabilities:
- Electrical engineers use sophisticated electromagnetic software to design products to customer specifications.
- Finite element analysis (FEA) software is used for mechanical analysis
- Electrical and mechanical designs are converted into a 3-D solid model by Cobham Defense Electronics Systems’ Drafting department.
- CNC programs are created to support all hardware and tool machining. CNC programming and machining is done in-house.
- The final part is dimensionally inspected using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) by one of Cobham Defense Electronics Systems’ certified inspectors.
The transition from the design and development phase to production is seamless. This world-class manufacturer boasts the following in-house manufacturing capabilities:
- Precision and high volume CNC milling machines
- Programmable Bridgeport milling machines
- Aluminum dip braze
- Walk-in paint booths
- Torch braze/solder/welding stations
- From Class 100 bench to Class 10,000 clean room
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and cam-driven flex corrugation machines
