Manufacturing

Following is a basic overview of the Cobham Defense Electronic Systems design and development cycle demonstrating our in-house capabilities:

  1. Electrical engineers use sophisticated electromagnetic software to design products to customer specifications.
  2. Finite element analysis (FEA) software is used for mechanical analysis
  3. Electrical and mechanical designs are converted into a 3-D solid model by Cobham Defense Electronics Systems’ Drafting department.
  4. CNC programs are created to support all hardware and tool machining. CNC programming and machining is done in-house.
  5. The final part is dimensionally inspected using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) by one of Cobham Defense Electronics Systems’ certified inspectors.

The transition from the design and development phase to production is seamless. This world-class manufacturer boasts the following in-house manufacturing capabilities:

  • Precision and high volume CNC milling machines
  • Programmable Bridgeport milling machines
  • Aluminum dip braze
  • Walk-in paint booths
  • Torch braze/solder/welding stations
  • From Class 100 bench to Class 10,000 clean room
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic and cam-driven flex corrugation machines
  • Cleaning and conversion coating tanks
  • Autoclaves that can handle RF composite structures up to 8’ x 18’
  • Plating
