About Us

Continental Microwave was originally founded in 1977 as Continental Tool Company, specializing in microwave-related precision machining and manufacturing of special purpose tooling, assembly and test fixtures. In 1981 Continental Microwave Co. was established and focused on passive microwave components. In 1982 the two companies joined forces to become Continental Microwave and Tool and expand their capabilities and product offerings.

In 1996 Continental was acquired by Cobham Defense Electronic Systems (formerly Chelton Microwave) the world leader in passive integrated microwave subsystems. Cobham Defense Electronic Systems is a division of Cobham plc, a UK-based leader in aerospace and defense markets worldwide.

In 2001, Cobham Defense Electronic Systems acquired the assets of the Microwave Products Division of Airtron which included the flat plate antenna array line. In 2005, Cobham Defense Electronic Systems moved the complementary microwave product lines of Atlantic Microwave Corporation to Continental and acquired the assets of Microwave Development Company.

These combined resources and expanded product lines have facilitated Continental’s evolution into the industry leader it is today by offering customers more products and services then ever before.

Continental has expanded its operations to a second building (40,000 square feet) that houses warehousing, stock cutting and manufacturing. The additional manufacturing space has increased throughput and reduced lead times on standard waveguide products.

Continental Microwave is ISO-9000:2000 and AS9100 certified. The stringent guidelines set forth in these standards ensure the highest levels of performance and reliability.
