About Us
Cobham Defence Communications Limited (CDC) is part of the Cobham Defence Electronic Systems Division, which is one of six technology and service focused divisions. CDC operates from its headquarters in Blackburn, UK and sites in Exeter, UK and Manchester NH, USA.
CDC is a world leader in tactical military communications systems with over 50 years of experience in the design and manufacture of Vehicle Intercom Systems (ROVIS), a core element of C4ISR and battlefield digitization programs of armed forces around the world.
The company has also developed the BattleHawk Battle Management System software and the maritime version of the same system, WaveHawk. Both systems run on CDC’s own suite of rugged tactical computers, including the Soldier Data Terminal (SDT), which has been selected for Future Integrated Soldier Technology (FIST) trials.
Having been a major supplier of Vehicle Intercom Systems to the US Army since 1995, CDC was already an established business operating within BAE when it was acquired by Cobham in 2002. After becoming part of the Cobham Group, CDC began trading as Chelton Defence Communications Ltd. In 2005, the company name was changed to Cobham Defence Communications Ltd.
To date, the company has fielded more than 100,000 vehicle intercom systems on a large number of different platform types for customers in 18 countries.
